Doris and Jerry live right near the river, and lost the foundations of their houses along with their septic, electricity and water source.. Without assistance of money they were in a tight spot. PDA has given them an opportunity to stay on their family land and rebuild their houses with volunteers and some funding. They are so happy and grateful. It has been such a blessing to be here, helping them with a new foundation, soil moving with a bobcat and pulling staples out of salvaged wood flooring. Doris and Jerry will be in their homes again by winter I think. This week has been an eye opener in the process of rebuilding not only their houses, but their lives.
The second family we gave assistance to was Gary and Char. Their home was fine, but the yard down to the river was full of tree that had been washed down. We spent the day cutting and stacking next winter's firewood.. We made new friends that day!
So while we were there to help, we received a lot in return. The satisfaction of pulling that last big staple out of the hickory flooring, We watched the river now in its normal flow and discovered the wonders of nature, the varying rock formations and colors. We formed a community who worked, prayed, and played together. God was at work with and within us this week.
