Before Service Starts
Springwater Presbyterian Church enjoys singing.
When we gather on Sunday, we sing hymns before worship (usually starting about 10:15 am) that the congregation picks from any of four hymnals.
It is a special time when folks choose their favorite hymns, or they can choose a hymn that is unfamiliar (also known as ‘stump the organist’).
We then ring our bell, calling people to worship, and the worship service starts at 10:30 am.
Worshiping Together
Springwater has a traditional style of worship (click here to see a sample worship service) with lots of singing, mostly out of traditional style hymnbooks. We have a big screen TV above the communion table / podium that we use to project the order of worship and the words of the hymns. Highlights of the service, besides the sermon, include passing of the peace, where everyone shakes hands or hugs everyone else, and the prayers of the people, where we share our joys and concerns and lift them up in prayer. The worship service is recorded and shown live on You Tube. We also have some well-behaved dogs that regularly attend our services.
We have an outdoor amphitheater that we use for outdoor worship in the summer when the weather is good. Bring chairs to sit upon for outdoor worship (they are more comfortable than the benches). For outdoor worship, we use a printed bulletin and the service is recorded and uploaded later on You Tube.
Children are welcome to be in worship with us, but, if parents would prefer, we have 2 adults that will take children downstairs for age appropriate activities.
After Service
After the worship service, we meet in the fellowship hall for snacks and a time for catching up and getting to know each other better.
About five times a year, for special occasions, we rent the Grange hall next door and share potluck after or before the worship service.
